ViewMaster: Web Configuration

ViewMaster VR can also be configured from a Web Browser.  The Web Control interface gives access to a number of additional functions which cannot be controlled from the on-screen interface. The interface uses the REST API to control ViewMaster.

You can open the web control page by…

  • Entering the system IP Address and port in your browser. e.g http://localhost:888
  • Scanning the QR code in the on-screen configuration
  • Clicking the ‘settings’ icon when viewing the NDI output in NewTek Studio Monitor
  • Clicking the “Web Control” button at the bottom of the display window.

The page is split into several tabs, controlling different aspects of the system.

Pro Feature: When launched from the Multihead Manager, ViewMaster VR Pro will display the selected monitor number in the title bar.

Dark Mode

A control in the page footer allows you to switch between ‘light’ and ‘dark’ modes for the UI.

Settings Tab

The settings tab contains most of the familiar controls from the on-screen interface. Additional controls allow you to configure the NDI output frame-rate and name

Tally Frames

From V.1.4.0, you can use NDI tallies to change the frame colour for video marked as Program (red) or Preview (green).

Pro Features:

Rotation Angle

ViewMaster VR Pro allows all incoming video to be rotated – ideal if you’re using landscape cameras in a portrait mode. Rotations of 90,180 and 270 degrees can be selected.

Crop Video

Normally, ViewMaster will ‘letterbox’ incoming video to fit the size of the layout window, adding borders top and bottom (or, left and right, depending). The ‘Crop Video’ option will instead zoom the video to fill the frame, cropping material off two sides as required.

Sources Tab

Sources for each window can be chosen from this tab. A “Search function” means you can easily locate required sources in large NDI systems. Click on the down-arrow by the source name and either select from the list or type in the search area to filter.

The Audio Listen buttons allow you to hear any of the NDI sources. Audio is sent to the NDI stream, and to the ViewMaster PC primary audio output

Labels for each window can also be customized here. Type in the label field below each source, and the display will automatically update. Simple HTML tags can be used to select text styles, by adding a <html> tag at the start of the label.

  • <html><b> BOLD
  • <html><i> Italic
  • <html><u> Underline
  • <html><font color="red">Red

For ‘grid’ layouts, the sources are arranged in the same way as on screen.

For other layout styles, the first window is the ‘large’ one, and others are ordered left to right, then top to bottom according to the chosen layout.

When using RouteMaster integration, additional options are available in the Sources tab.

Presets Tab

This tab allows you to save, browse, load and delete presets. A thumbnail image representing the preset is shown. Presets hold all system settings including sources, audio listen state, etc.

Audio Tab

“Audio Listen” enables buttons on the ViewMaster display allowing the operator to select an NDI source to listen to. The audio is sent to the NDI output, and the first stereo pair is sent to the PC audio device.

Pro Feature: ViewMaster VR Pro has a “Multiple” mode, allowing multiple audio sources to be listened to simultaneously on the PC audio output. This mode is not supported on the NDI output of ViewMaster.

Settings for audio meters are also shown here. In addition to the number of meters shown, you can also adjust the meter range, peak indicator level and decay rate.

RouteMaster Tab

See the RouteMaster integration page for details.

Tools Tab

Lastly, the Tools tab allows you to shutdown ViewMaster remotely and to view the log, online documentation and release notes.
