Generating .HAR files for debugging

If you’re experiencing problems with any of our web-based products like WebCentre or RouteMaster WebPanels, we may ask you to send a .HAR file for analysis. You can create these in most browsers, but here’s a quick introduction to creating them from Chrome.

A .HAR file contains a record of the browser’s interactions with a server.

  1. Open the webpage showing the issue in Chrome
  2. Open Chrome Developer Tools (CTRL-SHIFT-I)
  3. Switch to the Network tab
  4. Enable Preserve Log and Disable Cache
  5. Clear any entries shown
  6. Press F5 to refresh the page. Chrome will capture all HTTP requests
  7. Use the Download button to save the .HAR file
  8. Email it to us!
